How to Overcome Overthinking

Overthinking is common and can affect the best of us ,but that doesn’t mean you have to just deal with it.

There is nothing wrong with being thorough and analyzing decisions, situations, and next steps, but when it starts to have an effect on your productivity and day to day life it can become a problem.

Lets discuss some tips to get out of the loop of obsessive thoughts that can crowd our minds!

Practice Self Awarness ask yourself “Why?” This is a way to snap yourself out of the cycle, its like a wake up call. Once you figure out the why you can begin to work toward the solution & realize what you are obsessing over doesn’t warrant the amount of energy you are giving it.

Write it down: Consider starting a journal for the sole purpose of documenting these obsessive thoughts. Overthinking tends to be a continuous loop in our minds. If you write it down and see it on paper, It gives the thought a “place” making it easier to deal with it in the moment or let it go.

Live in the moment: Thinking too far into the future or obsessing over the past can trigger overthinking. Overthinking is typically thinking of something that is going to happen, or something that has already happened. Living in the moment puts your focus on the present and what is currently happening around and within you.
